We'll donate a percentage of
each sweater sale to Heifer Project International!
At SweaterStop.com, we are dedicated
to helping those less fortunate than ourselves. Therefore, with every sale
of our unique handcrafted sweaters, we will contribute 3 1/2% to Heifer
Project International. This not-for-profit organization has been
identifying various countries throughout the world in need of assistance
to combat hunger and alleviate poverty since 1944. Our per sale donations,
plus a portion of our yearly profits will go towards HPI efforts to end
hunger in Bolivia. HPI helps to achieve these goals by providing high
quality livestock and training to people in these countries in exchange
for the recipient's agreement to pass along the first female offspring to
another family in need in their community.
Since 1957, Heifer
Project International has provided animals and services to families in
Bolivia. Last year alone, HPI sent $537,411 in animals and services to
Bolivia. Our sweaters are hand-knit by extraordinarily talented artisans
who are lucky enough to maintain a basic lifestyle. Unfortunately, more
than 60% of Bolivians live below the poverty line. All of our sweaters are
designed by Yumiko Suzuki and produced by Artesannias Toshy SRL BOL.
Artesannias Toshy provides jobs for almost 2000 Bolivians. Because the
designs are so difficult, only the most talented artisans craft these
sweaters. Some make just 1 sweater per week, while others can make up to
4, with the help of a spouse, parent or children.
Because of the
unique talents and time required, only a limited number of sweaters can be
produced each year. That limits our supply, but please be assured that our
inventory is maintained in real-time so you will know that the sweater is
available when you place your order. No two sweaters are exactly the same,
this type of variation commonly occurs in hand made sweaters. Like the
occasional piece of straw or strand of long black hair that is sometimes
knit right into the sweater, we enjoy these signs of authenticity as they
connect us to the talented artisans who knit these sweaters in a different
hemisphere. And, remember SweaterStop.com will contribute a percentage of
the proceeds of each sale to Heifer Project International for their
efforts in Bolivia.
